CARBON HILL — More than three months of hard work will pay off Thursday when students in the drama club at Carbon Hill Elementary and Junior High School present “A Walk in the Woods,” a compilation of several well-known fairy tales.

The students will take to the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium at the school. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for students. All proceeds from the play will go to the drama club.

The play will also be performed Friday morning for students at the school.

Becky Wells, a sixth-grade teacher at the school, is serving as the play’s director. Carla Tucker, a fifth-grade teacher at the school, is the assistant director. “The kids have worked very hard on this,” Wells said. “In all, we will have had 33 rehearsals by this time Thursday.”

Despite the hard work, Wells said the students — who are in fifth through eighth grades — have fun.

“They have a blast,” she said. “We’ve been doing this for the past 12 years or so, and every year it’s so much fun for the kids.”
