Walker County Extension Office will present a basic food preservation class Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 1 until 4 p.m. at the Community Health Systems Activities Center in downtown Jasper. Eldridge Free Will Baptist Children’s Home at 86 Academy Drive in Eldridge will host an opening day dove hunt fundraising event Saturday, Sept. 6. Gates will open at 9 a.m. with a mandatory safety meeting at 11 a.m. Season opens at noon, $50 donation per gun. Space is limited, first come first serve, 75 stands available. Must be over age 16 with valid Alabama hunting license and Harvest Information (H.I.P.) Stamp. Each participant must sign a liability waiver before entering the field.
