The “Church Happenings” section is featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle and daily on the Eagle’s website at www.mountaineagle.com. Church or faith-based events, faith-based support group meetings, cemetery association meetings and cemetery clean-ups are listed for free and run in chronological order by date and time as space allows. Saturday, April 26

Keeton Cemetery in Nauvoo will have its cleanup days on Saturday, April 26, and Saturday, May 3. All flowers must be removed for cleanup.

Maranatha Baptist Church will have a Youth Happening Sunday, April 27, from 5 until 6 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Martin of Hope Church.

New Life Baptist Fellowship, Cordova Cutoff Road, will have community yard sale Saturday, April 26, beginning at 6 a.m. Donation of $5 to set up. Concessions will be available.

Nauvoo Church Of God will have a gospel singing Saturday, April 26, at 6 p.m. featuring Eagle Wings, Kim Dunn, Angie Wood, the Cook Family from Double Springs, and the Nauvoo Church of God Praise Team.

Sunday, April 27

Corona Baptist Church will have a singing Sunday, April 27, at 10 a.m. with special guest singers, the Stephens Trio.

Carbon Hill First Freewill Baptist on Dogtown Road will celebrate Homecoming Sunday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m. with guest singers, Chosen Road.

Union Grove Baptist Church in Barney will have decoration and singing Sunday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m. Guest singers, the Page Trio.

First Baptist Church Frisco, 2701 Corona Avenue in Jasper, will have “Church In The Street” Sunday, April 27. Sunday school at 2 p.m. Worship service at 4 p.m. Guest speaker, Rev. Alex Washington of Greater Shiloh Baptist Church. For more information, contact Rev. Alonzo Harper at 205-387-7030.

Townley Church of God will present the gospel group, Chosen Road, in concert Sunday, April 27, at 5 p.m.

Thursday, May 1

Maranatha Baptist Church will hold its National Day of Pray services Thursday, May 1, beginning with devotion and pray for our country, state, county and municipalities from 7 until 7:15 a.m., a breakfast from 7:15 until 8:15 a.m.; and a pray rally with local pastors from 5 until 6 p.m.

Saturday, May 3

Maranatha Baptist Church will have an All-Day Singing Fundraiser Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with guest singers, the King’s Kids, Teddy Cox, Kim Dunn, Chosen Road, the Kidd Family, Thompson Family and Faith on Fire. Donations taken at door. Lunch from noon until 1 p.m. Dinner from 5 until 6 p.m. Spaghetti plates $6. Hotdog plates for $3. Proceeds go to Christian Life Center Fund.

Wilson Chapel Cemetery on Myers Road in Nauvoo will have its annual business meeting Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at the cemetery. All interested parties invited to attend. Donations for upkeep on cemetery also being accepted. Mail donations to Nelda Windham, 114 Albert Windham Road, Nauvoo, AL 35578.

Shiloh Cemetery Perpetual Maintenance will hold annual public meeting Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at the cemetery in Kansas. Anyone interested is urged to attend.

Sunday, May 4

Good Hope Baptist Church near Sayre will have its homecoming celebration Sunday, May 4, with singing at 1:30 p.m. Guest singers will be the Melody Masters.

Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Oakman will have its Decoration Day singing Sunday, May 4, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Lunch from noon until 1 p.m. Guest singers will be EverPraySing and Chosen Road.

Peace Baptist Church in Parrish will have its Men and Women’s Day program Sunday, May 4, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Brian Savage of 26th Street Baptist Church in Jasper. Thedford Hudson, pastor.

Sumiton Church Of God will present the drama “Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames” Sunday, May 4, through Tuesday, May 6, at 7 p.m. each night in the church’s sanctuary. Admission is free.

Saturday, May 10

Jasper’s First Baptist Church will host annual “In His Grip” golf tournament Saturday, May 10, at Horse Creek Golf Course in Dora. Cost is $75 per player. For more information, contact the church office at 205-221-6444.

Natural Bridge Community Association & Modern Woodmen Chapter #16350 hosting gospel and bluegrass benefit singing Saturday, May 10, at 6 p.m. at Natural Bridge Community Center on Alabama Highway 13 North in Winston County. Featured groups are Wayne Horton and Harmony Ridge and Family Tradition. Bean plates will also be available. Proceeds go to Natural Bridge Storm Shelter Fund.
