State fire marshal Ed Paulk said Anna Arlene Hocutt died at the scene. Paulk said Hocutt lived in the mobile home with her parents, but it’s unclear how many people were inside the home when the fire started. No one else was hurt in the fire.
Paulk says the cause of the fire is under investigation, but he doesn’t suspect anything criminal at this time.
Paulk says investigators will be at the scene Friday. He said anytime you see a child die in a fire it takes a toll on the entire community, including investigators.
“I see a 3-year-old child who has just started life, does not have a chance to grow up and experience the things all children should,” said Paulk. “It’s a tragedy.”
Crime tape surrounds the burned mobile home. A pink stroller and a child’s plastic pool could still be seen among the debris.
Both local and state investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
