Dora rallies past Oak Grove for area title

Dora clinched the Class 4A, Area 8 regular-season title with a come-from-behind 72-61 victory over Oak Grove on Tuesday at Dora High School.

The Bulldogs (14-4, 5-0) outscored Oak Grove 24-12 in the final quarter to make up a one-point deficit.

“We came out not focused and ready to play tonight and Oak Grove made us pay,” Dora coach Michael Bridges said. “I preach to the guys that we are not good enough to just show up. We have to get focused and ready to play. However, I am proud that they battled back and put the game away and clinched the regular season area championship and the right to host the area tournament. That was one of our goals.”

Dora trailed 19-9 after the first quarter and 30-28 at the half. Oak Grove held a 49-48 lead going into the final quarter.

Four Dora players scored in double figures. Kelan Bell had 19 points, DeKari Swain added 17 points, Kenton Petties had 16 points and eight assists and Darian Ramsey had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Dora travels to Carbon Hill for its last area game of the season on Friday.



Dora 58, Oak Grove 10

Madison Clayton scored 26 points as the Dora Bulldogs earned a 58-10 rout of Oak Grove in their area matchup on Tuesday night.

Dora led 14-0 after the opening quarter and 32-2 at the half. The Bulldogs, didn’t let up, taking a 50-6 lead into the final quarter.

For the Bulldogs, Lindsey Johnson added eight points and Madison Hargrove put in seven.
