Jasper police responded to a report of shots fired on College Hill Road at midnight Wednesday. Investigating those shots led the police to the home of Robert Tackett. Someone at that residence is believed to have been firing at a vehicle on the road. Multiple shots were fired, striking the vehicle and a house across the street, but no one was injured.

Tackett, 52, and Sterling Morgan Cannon, 22, were taken into custody at the residence after police investigators discovered 4.6 pounds of marijuana in the residence. Both men are currenly being held on first-degree possession of marijuana charges.

Sgt. David Mize of the Jasper Police Department said the investigation into the shooting was ongoing, but no charges had been filed in connection to it as of press time. Mize also declined to comment on possible motives for the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation.
