The matchup provided plenty of twists and turns for the crowd on hand — particularly in the fourth period, when the lead changed directions six times before the Tornadoes were able to pull away in the final two minutes of regulation.
'"I thought we came out and played a solid first half. I thought we were in control of the game," Parrish coach Heath Burns said. "Sumiton Christian came out with a good game plan and made adjustments. We had some trouble with their zone in the third quarter, but in the fourth quarter, we made some stops when we needed to.
"It's the time of the year that any win is a good win. You've got to win some games like that, where you don't play your best. I take credit for the way we played tonight. We didn't play our best, but our guys found a way."
Parrish’s Denzell Daley earned tournament MVP honors with his 13-point performance, while Barry Hill recorded a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shots. Trayvon Chatman added eight points in the victory.

Parrish (24-2) opened the game with a 16-9 advantage, then added to its lead after a 14-7 second-period run to stay on top, 30-16 at halftime. A spectacular rally by the Eagles in the third period led to 14 unanswered points and 30-30 deadlock leading into the final period.
The two teams battled for the lead throughout the remaining eight minutes of play — but Daley’s eight fourth-period points helped the Tornadoes gain the final advantage with two minutes left on the clock, 42-40. Trayvon Chatman and Reginald Harris added three points by free throws to finalize Parrish’s 45-40 win. Hill, Reginald Harris and Jermichael Harris joined Daley on the All-Area Tournament Team.
