Edna Waldrop Gurganus, 81, of Jasper, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Walker Baptist Medical Center.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Woodland Trace Church of Christ. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. with the service to follow at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Gurganus, a native of Walker County, was a member of the Woodland Trace Church of Christ and a member of the Walker Baptist Volunteer Auxiliary (Pink Ladies).

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.P. and Clara Gray Waldrop; brother, O.P. Waldrop Jr.; sister, Ilene Gurganus; son, Jimmy Lee Gurganus; and husband, Jasper J. Britt.

She is survived by her sons, Mike (Nancy) Gurganus of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Lynn (Kim) Gurganus of Alabaster; sisters, Kathleen Cain of Lewisville, Texas, and Louise Lewis of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Heather Gurganus; grandchildren, Carrie (Chris) Oliva, Kristen (Mason) Frenzel, Brandi (Tas) Womack, Brooke (Kelly) Stocke, Brandon (Allison) Gurganus, Brooke (Tom) Grigsby and Gray, Lauren Grace and Lily Gurganus.

Gurganus is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, family members and friends.
