The annual Friends of Scouting Luncheon will be held Thursday at the Community Health Systems Activities Center to benefit the Boy Scouts of the Mountain District of the Black Warrior Council, which now encompasses Walker, Winston, Marion, Fayette and Lamar counties.

The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. As usual, Dreamland will be served at the luncheon, and there will be a silent auction following lunch.

District executive Zac Lollar also said he expects a number of former Auburn and Alabama standouts to be in the audience for the luncheon, which serves as the only fundraising event held each year for the Boy Scouts.

The guest speaker this year will be Auburn University co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig. Craig was also a standout quarterback at Auburn when he was in college.

An individual will also be honored with the second annual E.A. Drummond Lifetime Scouting Achievement Award, presented to someone who has made a significant impact on scouting and scouts in the area.

For information on attending, to reserve your spot or to be a corporate sponsor of the event, contact Zac Lollar at 205-275-6454 or chairman Kevin Callahan at 205-385-0100.
