Playing its opening home series of the season, Walker won the opener 6-5 before dropping the nightcap 8-3.
In the first game, Bailey Tidwell earned the win for the Vikings, allowing four runs on three hits while hitting three batters and striking out four in five innings. Stone Stephenson earned the save, giving up one run and striking out two in one inning.
Nick Hicks finished 2-for-2 with a run scored to lead the Vikings at the plate. Bryant Atkins was 1-for-1 with a double and a run scored, Logan Nix was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Stephenson finished 1-for-3 with a run scored and a double.
In the second game, Atkins took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs — four earned — on five hits while hitting two batters and striking out three in four innings.
Chandler Crump went 1 2/3 innings in relief, giving up one run. Luke Ferrell allowed two runs over the final 1 1/3 innings.
CJ Robinson was 2-for-4 with an RBI at the plate while Nix was 2-for-3 with a run, Stephenson was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Hicks was 1-for-3 with a run and Brooks Wade was 1-for-3.
Walker is now 1-3 on the season. The Vikings dropped a pair of games last week, losing to Northview 12-9 in eight innings and losing to Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 9-0.
The Vikings travel to Pinson Valley on Monday and play in the Terry Sikes Memorial Tournament in Troy beginning on Thursday. Walker battles Southside-Gadsden on Thursday, Northridge on Friday and both Spain Park and Dothan on Saturday.
