DORA — The city of Dora is gearing up for the first of what they hope will become an annual spring festival. The inaugural Horse Creek Jubilee will be held May 3 at the Dora Shopping Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

According to Mayor Randy Stephens, the city recognized that most of the area’s events and festivals occurred in the fall, so they wanted to give the community a chance to get together and celebrate in the spring.

“The name of the event was created by a combination of a previous name of the city with Jubilee, which means celebration,” Stephens said. “We are celebrating Dora.”

The city and the Jubilee’s organizational committee are already taking applications for vendors and entertainers for the event. This will be a juried event, so each type of vendor will be limited and will be accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis. No yard sale items will be allowed, all items must be new.

Entertainment applications are due by the end of March. Vendor applications and payment are due by April 19.

Booths for the event are $25 for a single 12x12 booth, $35 for an oversize (12x18) booth and $45 for a double (12x24) booth. Any booth requiring electricity will have to pay an additional $25 per outlet.

Organizers said there will be a children’s play area and two states, along with food, crafts, artists and more, regardless of weather. No alcohol will be sold at the event or allowed inside the festival grounds.

“The most important thing is that it will be fun for the whole family,” Stephens said.
