Case Key's big game leads Oakman past Cold Springs

Oakman's Case Key had a near-perfect day on Monday as the Wildcats opened Class 2A, Area 11 play with an 11-0 road win over Cold Springs.

Key was 3 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs at the plate. On the hill, Key allowed two hits and three walks while striking out six.

Jase Trotter also had a big outing for Oakman (17-5, 1-0), going 4 for 5 with two RBIs.

Oakman — the Walker County Baseball Tournament champion — looks to move to 2-0 in area play with a home game against the Eagles today. The game start at 4 p.m. The teams will play a tie-breaker to follow if Cold Springs wins today's opener.

Since starting 2-2, Oakman is 15-3. The Wildcats, ranked No. 6 in 2A, have lost a pair of games to both Cordova and Good Hope.
