A local faith-based group will host its first outreach event for men this weekend.

“Man-Up Alabama” will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at Walker High School’s Ki-Ro Gambrell Field. Dr. Danny Lanier and Jamey Ragle are scheduled to speak. Music will be provided by Smoke Rise Worship, Bama Blue Grace, Kingdom Work Quartet and DPB.

There is no admission to attend.

Man-Up Alabama was formed in April 2013 with a mission “to lead men and boys to stand up and be the man God created them to be by leading, serving, working, loving and praying for God’s direction for our families, communities and country.”

Charlie Pettit, one of the directors of the new ministry, said preparations for a county-wide men’s conference began last year. “This is our kickoff,” Pettit said.

Church groups are invited to set up tents outside the stadium prior to the event.

The ministry also has a website, www.manupalabama.org.
