Fishermen on the Warrior River found the body of Danny Chase McCleskey, 54, of Birmingham, Tuesday. McCleskey had been missing since March 22, when he went overboard while working on a boat.

Walker County Coroner J.C. Poe said he was called to the scene just after lunch to handle the transport of the body.

Poe and other members of the Smith Lake Task Force, as well as other search groups from across the state, spent days searching the river after McCleskey went missing.

McCleskey’s body has been sent to the Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy, as is common practice in a death with these circumstances, according to Poe.
