Roy Leon “Pete” Files, 75, of Carbon Hill, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be Monday, April 7, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home with burial at Carbon Hill Memorial Cemetery. Gail Johnson and Kenny Sawyer will officiate. Visitation will be today, April 6, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1938. He was a retired UMWA underground coal miner after working for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Elliot; stepfather, George Elliott; father, Bruce Files; and sister, Eula Mae Cooner.

He was survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Johnnie Rutledge Files of Carbon Hill; son, Jamie Files; daughter-in-law, Amanda Files; and beloved granddaughter, Kendall Grace Files, all of Carbon Hill; brother, James “Jack” Files and his wife, Ann, of Birmingham; sister, Jessie Kelley of Winfield; and a host of other relatives and friends
