James T. “Jimmy” Sides, 79, of Sumiton, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014, at home surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be today, April 8, 2014, from noon until 2 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be today, April 8, 2014, in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Toby Morgan will officiate. Burial will follow at McCormack Cemetery.

Sides was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid supporter and fan of Dora High School athletics and University of Alabama football. He was a retired member of the Teamsters Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter P. and Viola Carver Sides; sister, Betty Sides; brothers, Don, Terry and Ronald Sides; and his son-in-law, Ronnie Black.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Frances Sides; son, Brian Sides; daughters, Leneda Jones and her husband, Byron, and Anna Smith and her husband, Steve; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren: his brother, Wayne Sides and his wife, Joan; many other relatives; and a host of friends.
