Irlen Jean McCullar Hendrix, 78, of Nauvoo, met her Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on Sunday, May 25, 2014. She left this earth peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

The family will receive friends today, May 27, 2014, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral home, with burial at New Hope Holy Church of Christ Cemetery in Rose Hill. Brother Waymon Ashley and Brother Mike Jackson will officiate.

Jean was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, but to the world she was Nanny. Together with her husband of 59 years, they created a life and home for love and affection. The Hendrix home is a gathering place for all, where family and strangers alike are welcomed. She created a lifetime of fun memories for her loved ones. She instilled in every person that knew her that God is in control and in every situation he is always faithful.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hearl McCullar and Mae Blanton McCullar; grandson, Adam Alexander.

She is survived by her husband, Blanton Hendrix; sons, Talmadge Hendrix (Kim) and Gregory Hendrix; daughter, Karen Alexander (Bentley); grandchildren, Buddy Hendrix (Jennifer), Rachel Garrett (Jon), Kristen McCay (Andy), Eric Hendrix (Bobbie Jo), Nathan Hendrix, Abi Alexander Bongiovani (Jon) and Micah Lawson; great-grandchildren, Jasper Odom, Evan and Harper McCay, Brooks Hendrix, Adalyn Garrett and Sarah Ann Hendrix; sister, Dorthy McCullar Page; brothers, Lendal McCullar (Nora) and Carrel McCullar (Mary); sister-in-law, Susie Hendrix Page; brother-in-law, Jim Hendrix (Cathy); daughter-in-law, Cathy Tidwell Crump; and God-sent grandson, Jonathan Naramore.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Buddy Hendrix, Eric Hendrix, Micah Lawson, Jon Garrett, Andy McCay and Jonathan Naramore. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Jasper Odom, Evan McCay and Brooks Hendrix.
