Nannie Ruth Bryant Guthrie, 99, of Vinemont, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be today, May 31, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Longview Church of God with the Rev. Charles Irving officiating.

Guthrie’s body will lie in repose for one hour before the service at the church. Visitation was held Friday, May 30, 2014, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.

The family will reconvene at 4:30 p.m. for a graveside service and interment at Guthrie Cemetery in Townley.

Guthrie was born Oct. 9, 1914, in Ohatchee, Alabama, to the late James Martin and Martha Lora Whiteside Bryant. She was a homemaker and was a longtime member of Longview Church of God.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Columbus Guthrie; son-in-law, Randell Dockins; 5 siblings and 4 grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Bill (Beverly) Guthrie of Valley and Andrew (Sherrie) Guthrie of Vinemont; four daughters, Johnnie (George) Van Hassel of Tavares, Florida, Carolyn Kinworthy and Lora (Jack) Garnett of Cullman, and Freeda Dickins of Townley; a brother-in-law, Ed Harrison; a sister-in-law, Flora Bryant; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
