Girlie Things Boutique in downtown Jasper will be hosting a fundraiser Friday night for Hope for Women, a recovery program for women working to overcome alcohol and drug addiction.

The benefit will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on 19th Street near Girlie Things Boutique and City Hall.

The boutique will provide the clothes that will be featured in a fashion show. Clients from Hope for Women will be the models.

The night will also include live entertainment from The Spook House Saints and Rick and Jilda Watson, as well as food, inflatables and vendor booths.

Store manager Michele Cooper said she learned about the local nonprofit last fall from a customer who is also affiliated with Hope for Women.

“A customer came in around November or December of last year who was part of the organization. We found out more about the program at that point and thought they were someone close by that we could help,” Cooper said.

Hope for Women was founded in 2012 and has grown to include three facilities located in the downtown area. There are currently 23 clients being served by the program.

Executive director Kristan Stricklin said the proceeds from Friday’s fundraiser will be used for various needs at the house.

“Because we are a nonprofit organization, the only funds that we have coming in are through local grants, churches and individuals who give love offerings or the little bit that comes in when the girls go to work,” Stricklin said.

Representatives of Hope for Women will be collecting donations Friday, and clients will also be on hand to share their testimonies.
