Linda Hodges Busby, 67, of Empire, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

The family will receive friends today, June 18, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home.

Graveside services and interment will be Thursday, June 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the New Canaan Cemetery in Empire. The Rev. T.J. Millican will officiate.

Busby was a retired coal miner from the Drummond Co.’s Chetopa mine. Affectionately known as “Olive Oil,” she was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Essie Mae Hodges; her son, John Busby; granddaughter, Heather Baxter and her sisters, Earlene Robinson and Lorene Wright.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Busby; children, Tammy Scott, Tammie Busby, Lucas Busby, Bonnie Busby, Sheila Gunter and Isabella Hill; grandchildren, Amy Nolen, Jodi Murray, Leona Cordell, Lynn Reeves Jr., George Gunter Jr., Roman Gunter, Jennifer Self, Amanda Busby and Anna McDonald; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Earnestine Colbert and Maxine Garner; and several other relatives and many friends.
