Mildred Phillips Aycox, 83, of Sumiton, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Walker Baptist Medical Center.

The family will receive friends today, June 25, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. The Rev. James Aycox and the Rev. Keith Owens will officiate.

Burial will follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens.

Aycox was a member of New Life Christian Assembly in Dora and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Aycox; her parents, Alf and Mae Phillips; sisters, Maude Hardy, Lila Wilson and Lois Ware; and brothers, Paul, Carl and Claude Phillips.

Survivors include her sons, the Rev. James Aycox (Debbie), Dennis Aycox and Jonah Aycox (Dana); daughter, Charlotte Hughes (Wayne); grandchildren, Jennifer Owens (Kieth), Jason Aycox (Whitney), Ethan Aycox, Tarah Overturf (Mike), J.P. Aycox (Jennifer), Noah Aycox, Aaron Aycox, Adam Hughes (Allison) and Josh Hughes (Tonya); eight great-grandchildren; sister, Claudine Thrasher; brother, Fred Phillips; several other relatives; and a host of friends.
