Activities for the fundraiser also include many children’s events, as well as softball games that will be held throughout the day.
The funds raised by the yard sale and the walk will be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network, which helps serves 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals nationwide. The funds from the Sumiton Walmart event will be donated to Children’s Hospital in Alabama – the local Children’s Miracle Network member hospital.
Billie Rhodes of Walmart in Sumiton’s personnel department says the store and employees feel motivated after last year’s totals in donations were below their expectations.
“We went to the kickoff last year and we weren’t impressed enough with what we had brought in our totals.” Rhodes said. “We knew we could do much better.”
“This year we decided to do something much more special, so we came up with the idea for the softball games and the children’s activities. We really feel that it’s going to be a positive, fun experience for the entire family, as well as our customers and associates.”
