Manasco-Pruitt

Brittany Manasco and Brad Pruitt were united in marriage by Martin (Glenn) Henson during a double-ring, unity sand ceremony held May 29, 2010, at 6 p.m. in Orange Beach, Alabama.

The bride is the daughter of Don and Susan Guthrie of Parrish. The groom is the son of Donnie and Linda (Janie) Pruitt of Nauvoo.

The bride was given away in marriage by her father, Don Guthrie. The bride’s dress had a halter strap around the neck with beaded designs throughout the dress and lace up the back.

The dress also had a long train with the same beaded designs. The veil was long with small pearls and tiara front.

The bride’s attendants were her sisters, Ashley Guthrie and Miranda Findley.

The best man was Wesley Findley and the groomsmen was Donnie Pruitt.

The rehearsal dinner was given by friends and family at Hazel’s Restaurant in Orange Beach.

Following a wedding trip to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, the couple is now at home in Nauvoo.

A reception will be held in honor of the couple at the Community Health Systems Activity Center in Jasper on July 17, 2010 from 4 until 8 p.m. No formal invitations will be sent.

Torres-Knight

Mr. Carlos Torres of Chicago, Ill., and Ms. Jinann Larson of Reston, Va., announce the engagement of their daughter, Nicole Marie Torres, to Troy Elvin Knight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Knight of Cordova.

Dr. Torres is the granddaughter of Mrs. Luz Torres and the late Mr. Victor Torres Sr. of Chicago, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Larson of Peru, Ill.

She is a 2000 graduate of Herndon High School in Reston, Va., and a 2004 graduate of Virginia Tech, where she was a member of the Dance Company of Virginia Tech. She earned a PhD in organic chemistry from Michigan State University in 2009 and is currently a postdoctoral associate in the chemistry department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Knight is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Troy Lee Knight of Cordova and the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman Handley of Dora.

He is a 1996 graduate of Walker High School and a 2000 graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He received his master’s degree in chemistry from UAB in 2004, earned a PhD in inorganic chemistry from Michigan State University in 2009, and is currently a postdoctoral associate in the
