Located in the Country Village Shopping Center on Hull Road, Heavenly Ribs is the newest venture by Landon Dreher and his wife Wanda, who were former owners and operators of Simmons Catfish Café in the Houston community.
The couple, both longtime residents of the Sumiton area, strongly believed that a new barbeque establishment in Sumiton would do well.
“After we sold the Catfish Café, I went to work at a bank in Birmingham, but felt the pull of running a restaurant drawing me back to it,” Dreher said. “We knew this area needed something new, so we decided to open Heavenly Ribs up for the people in this community.”
Dreher says that since the restaurant’s opening in late March, the response and patronage has been incredible.
“The support has been wonderful for us,” Dreher said. “Some places since we’ve opened have actually opened and closed since we’ve been in operation. I’m very proud with the way it’s been and think it speaks volumes on how much the people of the area wanted a restaurant like ours here.”
Aside from the traditional barbeque fare of pork and ribs, the menu also includes catfish plates, steaks, shrimp and chicken. Heavenly Ribs also offers their barbeque to order for large amounts by the pound, as well as family packs that contain a variety of items grouped together in a platter.
