A Jasper teenager died Tuesday afternoon from injuries he sustained after falling from a vehicle.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Fourth Street and Highway 5 in Nauvoo. Jacob Scott Williams, 19, was pronounced dead at 6:21 p.m. by Walker County Coroner J.C. Poe.

Walker County Sheriff John Mark Tirey said an investigation of the circumstances surrounding Williams’ death is under way.

Tirey said Williams allegedly had a personal dispute with the driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old male.

“Details are still sketchy. We’re interviewing some people and waiting on forensic evidence,” Tirey said.

Witnesses report that Williams got out of his own vehicle and approached the driver after pulling behind him at a stop sign near Highway 5. Information is not yet available concerning what type of confrontation, if any, occurred between the two teens before Williams’ death.

Tirey said an autopsy is being performed, and no criminal charges had been filed at press time.
