He served his country during WWII in the Pacific Theatre, serving on the USS Biloxi. A retired miner with UMWA Maxine Mines, and member of Quintown Church Of Christ, he was a very kind and friendly person. He was loved by his family and had many special friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Atchley; sons, Clifford Atchley and James Atchley; brothers, Bill, R.B., and Edward Atchley; and sisters, Elsie Atchley Anderson and Lillie Atchley Finley.
He is survived by his children, Linda Atchley Mezick and her husband, Larry, of Quinton, Nancy Atchley Moore and her husband, Jesse, of Crane Hill, Clete Atchley and his wife, Margie, of Springville, Kathryn Atchley and her husband, Larry, of Trussville and Lowell Atchley of Quintown; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
