Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM) held its first worship night service Thursday, March 16, on the Jasper Campus of Bevill State Community College-Jasper. It was the first major worship event held by the new local chapter outside of its regular noon Wednesday meetings in the Jasper Campus cafeteria. Ignite Worship from the University of Mobile led worship, while New Prospect Baptist Church pastor Blake Prater, the coordinator of the local BCM chapter, spoke. Several students responded to the invitation to pray up front together, and the night ended with many gathering below the stage for an energetic number. more

PARRISH - The Parrish Town Council agreed Tuesday, March 14, to increase the starting pay of police officers with updated APOST certification from $17 to $20 an hour in order to recruit more officers to the local force.
